My Comic Book Fan Fiction
What was so special about the silver age of comic books? Read about it HERE

The Super Monkey from Krypton or On fanfiction.net
A fond, and not too serious, look back at the science and absurdity of Beppo, the super monkey from Krypton. Some Superman stories don’t hold up as well thirty years later.

Looking back at the irresistible Lois Lane
or On fanfiction.net
Another fond, and not too serious, look back at the silver age story in which Lois Lane rescues Superman from a Kryptonite deathtrap very, very, very slowly.

The Silver Age Superboy! or fanfiction.net
My great love for the Silver-Age comic book stories (particularly Superman) knows no end - I grew up with them and loved them despite the veritable ton of exposition, the preposterous stories, the ridiculous situations, the insane amount of information and implausibility crammed into every panel. And Superboy, well, he was the king of the genre!

My sci-fi adventure stories from years past!

Back in the 1980s, my friends and I liked to write stories featuring ourselves in science fiction adventures. As we went our separate ways to college, writing these silly stories was one way for us to keep in touch and continue the madness. There are a billion in-jokes and "you had to be there" moments in these but I’m not changing a thing – this is how we were. Every character in this story is based upon a high school friend. Some names have been changed so I don’t get yelled at.

The Dolphins of Persephone by Robert Gillis (1988)
This adventure begins with the destruction of Earth’s solar system, and chronicles our heroes’ quest to restore the timeline and save eight billion lives on two planets. John gets the girl, Bob flies the Enterprise, and for once, JB's blowing up a planet is a good thing.

New Genesis by Robert Gillis (1986)
Paralleling a certain Star Trek film as our heroes attempt to save two friends -- one alive, one not, yet both in pain, and also features JB's accidental destruction of New Hampshire

Chapters from "Star Trek: Beyond the Warp Barrier" (1992-1996)

Star Trek: Corel by Robert Gillis (1996)
After decades of adventures and saving the universe on a regular basis, time-traveling Starfleet captains Robert Gillis and David McEntire are in command of the constitution class starship USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A, its decommissioning temporarily delayed for warp drive tests, on one last joyride before retiring their Starfleet commissions and returning for good to their homes and wives in the 20th century… In this, the final two chapters, our heroes have been led to the planet Corel, a diplomatic hotspot, a planet petitioning for Federation membership but on the brink of civil war, where their final adventure is about to begin.

Excerpts from one of my earliest stories, "The Abucs Scenario." (1986)

The Valinor and Ted Koppel
So if John Matthews really was, as he claimed, a member of an advanced extraterrestrial race bent on conquering Earth, what would he do? Well, go on "Nightline," of course!

The robot and the lighsabre
Tripp meets JB's robot. Dave gets a working Star Wars toy.

2010: Something Wonderful
Dr. Robert Gillis has a meeting with an old, omnipotent friend. Any resemblance to the same scene in "2010: Odyssey Two" is entirely deliberate.

Tripp and JB
More excerpts from Abucs Scenario, as Tripp tries to unravel the mystery that is JB--and unravels in the process.

Star Trek: War Hammer or On fanfiction.net
It is the late 23rd century. Aboard the Starfleet Marine flagship War Hammer, Captain John Black must balance his Starfleet training with a need for revenge against a malevolent race that has killed eight of his men, and millions of others.

Grambo!
With absolutely no exaggeration, this is the most preposterous, outrageous, implausible, bizarre thing I’d ever written, as 97 year old Granny decides to take on the drug dealers in her neighborhood once and for all.

Humerous Stories
Father Ted and the Landlord's Letter
A friend of mine is having landlord troubles and is concerned about opening a letter from her landlord. We’re both huge fans of the BBC series "Father Ted" so I wrote this to cheer her up.

Humor: Robert Gillis records his new audio book, "A history of the town of Foxboro"
Or, how I kept Lauren entertained during the 2004 Haunted House. A history of Foxboro that was CLEARLY not very researched, and the "celebrity's" woes as he reads his new book.

Humor: Haunted Titanic: A ship of screams (written with Lauren Bitar)
As obsessive fans of the movie "Titanic," Lauren and I decided we would commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking by co-chairing the 2012 haunted house as "Haunted Titanic." We both love the Dudley Moore movie "Arthur," and "Titanic," and the "X-Files," so you’ll find lots of in-jokes and "had to be theres" in this story. LOTS and LOTS of them. If you want to know what Lauren and I are really like together… This is what Lauren and I are like together.

When GillisPhotos.com was launched in early 2005, everything was created with a mix of Perl scripts to generate pieces of HTML code. Not rocket science, but adding galleries, new pages and photos was tedious and time consuming. Ktools Photostore proved to be a Godsend. With Ktools Photostore, customization is easy, updates and changes are a breeze, and adding photos and galleries is simple. In addition, Ktools Photostore has dozens of features designed specifically for photo sellers. Ktools Photostore allows us to concentrate on photography rather than coding and scripting. We HIGHLY recommend Ktools Photostore.   Click here to learn more.
